I am interested in anyone's opinion and comments on the new Mullen S-10 model that was at Scotty's Convention. I really liked it.

| I tried it and liked it. It is a very well constructed, easy playing, great sounding instrument at a very reasonable price. You will be amazed and pleased with this pedal steel. I have a feeling that you will be seeing several of these models being played out in the near future. |

I missed St. Louis so I didn't get to try it. From the description and pics I see, it looks like a good value. It's all pro mechanics. Appears that set-up can be changed and pulls added same as their other guitars, but I defer to Mike and Del re: that.
If one doesn't mind a single body width and a few cosmetic short-cuts, I can imagine it would fill any bill that their other models can. I reserve final judgement 'til I can get my hands on one, but I'm very interested even though I play D10's. |

| Albert,I sat down next to Buck playing his G2 and I was playing the new eco mod s10 and it was sounding incredible and playing as well as any pro model. I would highly recomend it to anyone wanting something a little lighter to fly to a gig or just a great spare to have around. And you can also add an up lever by option. |

At the price of it you might as well just buy a new Pro model guitar ! It hardly falls into the Student/Starter price bracket.

The new Mullen is not a Student/Starter guitar. It is built with the same quality as any of the other Mullen guitars, and is very much a Pro model guitar. It doesn't take but a few minutes behind this guitar to find out it is top notch. And most of all, It is NOT to expensive. Larry Baker

When I had the first opportunity to play one of these guitars at the show, my first feeling
Was Wow! This guitar is similar to my G2 in tone and feel. When I sat down and played next to Austin I thought I was a little way beyond my class of playing with Austin so close to me on. His G2. But the single neck sounded so crisp and so warm in sound, I really can't detect that much of a difference in tone when compared to my own G2, which I also love dearly for ease of Playing and clear tone. So since some of the parts in the bridge are G2 parts could be why the DNA footprint of tone is so
Basically the same to my ear.
Missing out by not playing and owning a $2195 guitar that is perfect in every way, could be a giant mistake. Light weight , compact tone in a pretty package.

Well I will start off by saying this guitar is amazing,and Mike, Del, and the guys have hit a home run with this flight guitar. The tone is very close to my personal G2. I put them side to side and there was very little diffrence. When I first seen this guitar I did not think much about it, but when I plugged it in I was blown away. I was amazed at how good this guitar sounded, and the responce I got when I picked the strings. It has great sustain and such a warm clean tone.
The guitar is bulit just as stronge as any G2. The changer is half RP and half G2. The bottom part is RP parts, and the top saddles are G2 parts (this is where your G2 tone is coming from).
I back this guitar 100%.

This is a great guitar. The quality is there , The tone is there.This is a must for anyone who has a bad back or bad knees or has to fly to play his music jobs. It is not a student model. I would be proud to play this guitar anywhere.It is priced right too. You can get service from a lot of diffrent sources on any Mullen product. Buck Grantham

Why so much?
Isn't the mica/wood neck and the "changer bracing" the same as what was used in the past on their student models?

To answer you Curt. Mullen never had a true student model. That model before was a semi-pro. Which meant it had a pro changer, basically the whole top end, but the undercarriage was not pro caliber.
This New Model is the same basic design of the old semi-pro, except it has the Royal Precision changer, the G2 Rollers, and the rest on top is all highly polished now. It does have the same mica covered wood neck as the past guitar. The changer supports are also the same. The size of the body is also the same.
The difference comes under the guitar. It now has a complete professional undercarriage like our other models. Several other items have been upgraded to the pro parts. It does not have split tuning. There are some things this guitar is limited to, and that is to keep the price down for all of you.
It is designed to fit into your Flight/Gig schedule at an affortable price, and it has the Mullen Quality and tone to Match. There are many that will use this as their main guitar, expecially some new player as it is the least expensive model we have now. I personally think for what it is, the price is low. Considering a SD-10 Royal Precision is $2,911.00. About the only difference is the narrow body and mica covered maple neck, rather than aluminum.
Add up the overages on flying a guitar like many of our players do, and I am sure you will find the guitar would pay for itself real quick; (or the convenience factor of grabbing this 44 lb guitar and a 112 and hitting a local gig) and you still have the precision, quality, tone, performance, and reliability that you all have grown to expect out of Mullen Guitars.

Why pay so much for a limited guitar when for a few hundred more you can get one that has it all? I guess everyone will have to answer that question themselves. |
