Can someone help me sort out my problem with the half-stop set-up on a Derby SD10. I guess a couple of close-up photos would help me a lot. I cant figure out how the stop operates. There is a visable stop on the vertical lever, but no visable stop on the RKR with half-stop. Thanks in advance

If that RKR level lowers the 2nd string and also the 9th string, the 9th string acts as the 1/2 tone (feel) stop. This is the way it's done on most all pulls with that string combination and why you don't see a mechanical stop.
My Franklin and GFI both work that way. |

A lot of Derbys came with a tunable 2nd string feel half-stop installed as in the photo above. These have an adjustable knurled thumb-screw that you can see on the rod there for adjusting the middle note D....or whatever note you're looking for...by picking up the resistance of the springs on the rod. [Adjust the thumb-screw further from or closer to the set collar depending on whether that note is sharp or flat.]
As you continue pushing, the rod travels on to the final stop, C#...etc.
If your guitar doesn't have this type of mechanical device installed, then the 9th string method as described earlier will act as a sort of half stop provided the timing of those strings is adjusted properly. |

Thanks Jerry and Jack for your help. My Derby is the same design as the one you have posted Jerry. I will study your photo and have another crack at sorting the problem |

You're welcome Ted. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but always make sure you have enough travel for the final lower before attempting to tune the half-stop.
Many times, people misadjust the split tuner screws so that the changer lowering finger won't move far enough. That is the second row of screws just at the end of the neck.
Good luck and happy pickin' |
