OK, OK!!! You steelers who have been looking for a class "A" steel guitar seminar look no further!

On the weekend of February 19th 2005 in Oceanside, CA (30 mi. north of San Diego) there will be a two day steel seminar and jam featuring not one BUT TWO legendary steelers. JIMMY CRAWFORD and DOUG JERNIGAN have agreed to come to the West coast and put on a two day seminar. The credentials of these two artists is too long to list but you will have a chance to discuss them as well as learn some of their tricks.

It will feature a Saturday and Sunday seminar for beginners through advanced and a Saturday night jam. The cost will be between $80 and $150 depending on the number of attendees and will include a Saturday lunch and dinner and a Sunday lunch.

THIS SEMINAR IS NOT TO BE MISSED IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT LEARNING THE TRICKS OF THE TRADE FROM A COUPLE OF REAL LEGENDS OF THE INSTRUMENT!!!

For now all you have to do is post here and let us know you would like to attend or are at least interested and the rest will be taken care of. If there is the interest that I think there will be this could turn into a yearly event.

NO MATTER WHAT YOUR SKILL LEVEL IS, DO NOT PASS THIS OPPORTUNITY UP!!! A FUN TIME WILL BE HAD BY ONE AND ALL!!! SEATING WILL BE LIMITED.

BTW, the weather is BEAUTIFUL in Southern Cal. that time of the year!!

We'll see ya there!

Hi my name is Dale Tenney and I just became a member of the forum. I have been reading the forum for years so I feel like I know many of you already. I also want to thank my good friend Jim West for starting this tread to get things going.
The idea of a West Coast Steel Seminar began in a conversation between myself and Jimmy Crawford.
I own a machine shop and have machined a few parts for Jimmys guitars. Jimmy told me he would love to give me some lessons, because I play a little Dobro and Lap Steel, but playing Peddle Steel is what I really want to learn.
Jimmy told me a seminar and jam might be good
because he is always looking to have some fun, and he would talk to Doug Jernigan to see if he was interested.
I thought wow! how dose it get any better than this? well Doug dose want go and they are both making plans to give a world class seminar and jam.
We also will be givin tips on guitar maintenance, trouble shooting, and tracks for the material that will be taught.
Jimmy and Doug will have also have product for sale.
Jimmy will also teach on speed picking, he said its easy and he will show us it is done.
What we need is about 30 people. We thought 30 would make it a good deal for every one and that should cover the costs of putting this on. So far counting those of you who have posted and a few people I know that said they will go, we are about half way. By the way both Doug and Jimmy would like this to become a regular event so its up to us to make it happen. Please sign up and we will have a great time. Thanks Dale.

I would love to, I will have to look in to it. Since my daughter is at UC San Diego, maybe I could swing on down. How ever I was also looking into going to the Arizona show in January, so I may be streched a little thin, Jim

Jimmy Crawford called me yesterday to see how things were going on the seminar and to order more guitar end plates. I told him we have 15 people that want to go so far.
He thought that was a good start, but said he has been thinking about the fact Arizona is so close and Dallas being in March we just dont want to in any way hurt their attendance.
Jimmy thought we should strongly think about moving it to later in the year so people can plan more in advance for it,and we would also be able to promote it better. Maybe we can have it while the back east shows are on? its disapointing but I think Jimmy is right.

Just to let every one know the seminar is canceled till possibly later in the year.
