Thanks Ron for letting us know. I'm very saddened by this news. I only met Larry a handful of times, when he moved back to california. The last time I saw him was when he had just been diagnosed, 2 or 3 years ago. That was obviously a shock, and yet, he was incredibly graceful. He was one of the friendliest, warmest person I ever met, and from the little that I was able to experience, a great musician.

Hey Ron, I'm really sorry to hear about this. I've known Larry West (Pouncy) since he was a teenager. He used to go with my stepdaughter when he was in high school. Later we worked together a bit. Larry was a very good vocalist as well as drummer. He had moved back to California to take care of his mother after Carl passed away and then he contacted Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) a neurological disorder. I sent him a copy of a Guitar Player magazine which had a story of guitarist Jason Becker who also had ALS and lived many years with it and is still alive to the best of my knowledge. RIP Larry.....JH in Va.

I had just talked to Terry Bethel about Larry and he said he wasn't doing well... About 3 yrs ago , I mailed some CD's to Larry from the "Vegas days". He replied about "a blast from the past" I think he was the greatest sinder I had ever heard ... the greatest singer for sure... It sure was a shock to me ... Larry had sent me a picture of him and Dick Miller doing "the Other Woman" in Branson ,,taken by Billie-Jo-Spears .... what a loss!! JF

A great band, great steel playing & Larry's fantastic voice! He surely will be missed. Larry & his family will be in my prayers.

I'm sure surprised that more steel players don't seem to know what a loss we have just had ,,, A steel player could play all night on the songs Larry did ... The Borrowed Band in Vegas had a great run with so many fine players like Bethel & Miller on steels and Dennis Milan on guitar . JF

Sorry to hear Larry passed away. Larry was in my studio and recorded several demo's. Sorry I don't have a copy of those. I also played for Larry on several country gospel concerts in Alaska. He had a christian background and love country gospel music. I also got to pick with his relation, Pam Miller, Eddy Millers daughter, of Nashville. I wish his family well and prayers
