Anybody Played the Rendevous in Crapon France?
Ok. It's official. We have been invited to play next year at the Country Music Rendevous in Crapon France. Anybody else here played there, and have any stories or perhaps some tips for a first timer?

I've played it several times.
The only problem we had was catching the flight connection from Paris to Lyon. They stopped us at the plane, and said no more. The plane is full. But our drummer was one step ahead and he got on.
So the next flight was 9 hours to sit at the airport. So we took a train into Paris and killed time, so we had fun in Paris.
If you are staying in Crapon, it's a small town and pretty, just not much to do, especially at night.
If you stay in Le Puy, it's a large city and tons to see and do within walking distance.
Outside of that, no hitches. They really take care of you in every respect. That is a well run festival.
Have fun

Jake,
You are going to love it. Astonishingly beautiful country and great people. I was over there in the spring. There hospitality is second to none. I was hanging out with the guy that puts on the Crapon festival. He is quite a character !
Expect to be treated with care and respect and better food than you knew existed.

Played there with Dallas Wayne in 2003. Great festival and great staff . They treat you like royalty....
The guys who drive the performers from hotels to the gig drive insanely fast.
Through these medieval villages with streets built for a mule and a carriage, no slowing down. Seat belts were on in a hurry....
Have fun !!

Crapon/La Puy
We played there this year after several weeks in Scandinavia and had a blast!

La Puy, where your hotel accommodations are, is a very beautiful town and the festival staff is top-notch.

Amen to all of the above about Craponne and Le Puy. Played there about 6 years ago with Kevin Fowler. Also we had Randy Rogers, Jason Boland, Cross Canadian Ragweed. Jack Ingram, Wayne Hancock, Marty Stuart and others. Great shows, people who love the music and treat you like royalty. Wonderful sightseeing in Le Puy en Velay. A great experience - enjoy it!

I played there in 2001 with Kentucky based artist Mike Bella with whom I toured for 8 summer seasons. It's a great festival and a huge one. The year we played there they had close to 20.000 visitors. I have played several other festivals in France also but this one was the largest. Also the Lyon area is really nice and very friendly people.

Jake,
I did it around 2006 with Zona Jones and Mark Chesnut. (I filled-in for Jody Cameron) Some of the players in our group were from your area. We had a blast and everything mentioned so far is true. The production was awesome. (I will try to post a pic or two later) Due to my last name(and heritage) I was considered a "long lost cousin" and we still correspond with some of the folks we met. Reading the other guys' posts reminded me how awesome the trip was. I keep hoping I'll get the opportunity to go back. Let us know how much fun you have.

I’ll confirm what everyone has said and viva Georges Carrier and his wife Joselyn. Wonderful folks, beautiful country, thousands of music lovers and terrific food. I played there in ’05 with Cornell Hurd and again in ’06 with the Texas Swing Kings. I hope to get a chance to go back. Le Puy en Velay is an ancient city with a amazing history and architecture that goes back to Romans. You’ll dig it.
