Ronnie Milsap 20\20 vision ? Thanks.

Allmusic credits 5 steel players on the album. Besides Papa John, there was Pete Drake, Hal Rugg, Dickey Overbey and Lloyd Green. I suppose it could be Dickey, but sure sounds like Mr. Hughey to me.

I am pretty sure it is John. That album has a few great songs with John on them. The others just don't sound like that.

That is my favorite Milsap song.

My Quess would be Dickey overbey..only because he
like's alot of high scale stuff and is great at
playing it smooth,same as john hughey awesome,,
still say overbey tho.

Dickie is great at playing those Hughey type licks, but the tone is more Hughey than Overbey. I could be wrong, but I think John told me one time it was him. Of course, now that I said that, it will turn out to be Dicky. That's how my luck runs these days.

While we're at it: who played steel on Ronnie's "Stranger Things Have Have Happened?" It's not quite like anybody else I've heard.

I agree David. That vibrato and phrasing has to be Papa John.
Dickey has his own unique style, but I don't believe that's him on that cut.

On Stranger Things Have Happened, Frank......I'll go out on a limb and guess Weldon.

Weldon's one of the guys I suspected, Jerry. Not Sonny Garrish?

I dunno Frank. Could be. I'm already in over my head, just sounds like something Weldon might do to me. Maybe somebody that really knows can straighten it all out for us.
