But first...

my passion for steel guitar has long outlasted
my stylish moustache.

And now my upcoming gigs playing steel guitar:

Thurs., Aug. 4, 2011
Lynda Kay

One set only, 9:00 - 9:30 p.m.
Club Tarantino presented by Coffin Case
at Three Clubs

1123 Vine St. (@ Santa Monica Blvd), Hollywood
NO COVER

If the promo poster below doesn't make you want to check out this cool event,
then let me say this about the amazing Lynda Kay: she's a perfect retro country
cocktail of Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Willie Nelson and KD Lang. She's got the songs,
the sound, the look, and the nicest personality this side of sweet tea.

(I'm filling in for esteemed forumite John "Groover" McDuffie)

Good food and adult beverages
Other bands on the bill, including Far West & The Americans

First of 2 great shows this week with New Orlean's import Gal Holiday & The Honky Tonk Revue.
Heartfelt, groove-laden old school country music with modern edge and sass. Sick of what passes
for country music on radio, CD's and iTunes these days? Come to these shows, the
perfect antidote to that other BS.

Sat., Aug. 6, 2011
Riverside fundraiser/jam session
to benefit musician Leo Eiffert

Noon till ?
Riverside VFW Post 9223

10303 Arlington Ave., Riverside 92505
Corner of Tyler & Arlington
951-688-7170
No cover, contributions welcome

Fellow musician (guitar, drums, steel) and all-around good guy Leo J. Eiffert suffered a heart attack
and underwent bypass surgery in May.

I'll be sitting in at this all-star jam session to help Leo with his medical costs.

Many of the best country pickers and singers in Southern California will be attending.
If you like your country classic, I urge you to come out and enjoy some great music.

I just confirmed that West Coast steel guitar hero (and forumite) Jay Dee Maness (Buck Owens, Desert Rose, Eric Clapton, Vince Gill)
will be there and sitting in. Now we're talkin'!

For further info or questions, contact the event co-organizer, steel player Ron Epperson, at 909-238-6303.

Ron, my email blasts are pulling pretty well, I hope I can bring in a few extra jammers and contributors.

Chuck, I'll definitely say howdy to the GH duo for ya. We're gonna have some big fun this weekend.

Everyone local, try to make one of the Gal Holiday shows, they're a blast and you won't be sorry, I promise.

To everyone who couldn't make it to the Lynda Kay show last night: it was one of the most magical musical moments of my entire career, Lynda's show and singing were breathtaking. Killer band. A harmony singer who's a bona fide opera singer and sings like an angel (we did a unison line, her on vocals, me on Ebow, pure bliss). I played shaker percussion on 4 songs! Call me Mr. Versatile.

I hope to get more chances to sub for Groover, but I'm going to her shows whether I'm a band member or not. She was just amazing and is going to be a big star!!!
