It's unusual to get that much close up of the playing. Must have been a player behind the camera.

What was he using for a bar?

I don't know. It looks like a stick, or a pencil. This got passed to me by my buddy, Lou Curtis, of San Diego, who isn't a steel player but an afficianado of the blues. I'll ask him. I Think it's pretty amazing, tho.

To me it looks like a push rod from a valve assembly. ( from a automotive gas engine )

He mentioned using tools, when the bar is lost, so...looks like a screwdriver to me, but I'm not sure it there's a handle in his palm, or it's a shadow.
Considered one of the original blues men of his time.
