Who played steel? Must be Buddy? Gotta be an Emmons! Don't tell me there is no tone difference amongst guitars!

How do you guys know who it is?

It doesn't sound too much like my dad's tone but for some reason (can't remember) I thought Leo LeBlanc played on this first Marie Osmond album.

I really don't know but if you guys have a link that shows who played on it, I'd appreciate it

It is indeed Curly on Marie Osmond's 1973 cut of "Paper Roses". Although I knew it was Curly, there are several places and much information on the web to confirm this. Sorry, the I-Pad won't let me post links. :)

The King has spoke! :)

The only explanation is that Curly borrowed Buddy's Emmons to cut that :)

Thanks, Tommy

Too bad Marie had to bore all of us - it would've been better as an instrumental ...

If it hadn't been for Marie we wouldn't have heard Mr. Curly Chalker on that hit record! :)

There are plenty of other places to hear Curly besides this song ….
Oh, hi Theresa! :)

Dear. I'm going to have to listen to all of "Exile on Main Street" and "Birds of Fire" to clear my valves after that.

It's all good Bob. I like Marie too. I also happened to like that recording.

That it was Curly who played on "Paper Roses" sure was news to me! I always asumed it was Weldon Myrick!

A little off-topic but if my memory serves me right, Sonny James produced the tune.

Oh man I'm stuck with this mess in my head for the rest tof the day. Better get out the ZZ Top...

Uhhh... someone mention Weldon? I met him once at the GOP (thanks Jeff) and many years later in Tokyo. One of my all-time favorites...

Things I've learned this week.
If you're good you're Emmons.
If you're rich you're guilty.

Actually if you are great you're Emmons.
If you're rich we should send you to re-education camp.

I am sure that Curly was playing a black MSA at that time. Interesting that someone thought it was an Emmons!!

Does all this mean that the player has a little something to do with the overall sound of a steel? I always believed it was the steel itself. My Emmons sounds better when I'm not playing it.
My post here is a joke, please don't dignify it with a response.

That explains it then. Black guitars sound better; not brands or players

Bob, I like Marie too. But, let's not tell anyone and just keep it our little secret.
