I had a problem with my electronics last night at a jam session. I have a Fessenden D-10 with Tone Aligner pickups thru a Telonics pedal into a line 6 Pod Pro XT then into the PA with a xlr cable. I heard what sounded like a 60 cycle hum when I played, but only when I picked a string, the lower the note the worse the hum was. With the vol ped wide open, no noise!!! I havent had time to set it up at home and see if I can duplicate the problem

Sounds like a typical "ground loop hum" and could have been caused by the XLR cable is the cable shield (ground) is connected to the signal ground connection in both ends of the cable. (I learned about this problem from forumite Blake Hawkins who is a retired broadcast engineer).

Like Jack said, make a short XLR male to female adapter, (only enough wire to make it flexible), but don't solder the ground, (shield) connection on one side. Use it to make the final PA connection.
