Any machinists here? I need a part made.

Hi, I need to speak to a machinist who can spin a 1/4 inch (?) piece of brass rod and groove it (to accommodate the string guages I use) to make a nut for a lapsteel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Don

Hi Don,
I'd suggest you contact Don Burrows at BSG Guitar. He can make you a beautiful custom gauged nut.

Don, I edited my post to say "nut" instead of rollers. I should have read your post a little better... sorry.

Thanks for your help Lynn but Sonny is right. I don't need rollers but I do want it to be precision cut to minimize string buzz.
Sonny, how do you make nuts?

Just call Don Burroughs and tell him what you want , he can, and probably will be glad to make a non-roller bridge and rest assured it will be "precision made".....Stormy

Storm, Thanks for the lead. What is Don's number or email address? I hope you understand its a nut I need. Not a bridge. I suspect that was a typo. Right? Thanks, Don

Don Mc,,,I use just a straight piece of 5/16" brass rod on my lap steels,,,the natural graduation of the strings seems to be pretty level,,,and of course I don't need spacing grooves since my keyless tuners take care of the spacing. Have never had a problem with buzzing or ???
