This fine singer has a new CD that includes Buddy Emmon's, "Nameless Shuffle" upon which Laney has written great lyrics. It is a must buy and listen to. The other fine cuts feature Russ on steel who does a really smooth tasteful job. Not only is her voice fabuolous, but her phrasing is incredible. You know the story of the song when she has sung it.

Got this one at the convention. Your collection isn't complete without this. What a duo Russ and Laney are. And that other steeler wasn't bad, either! |

Russ and Laney...what can I say..are they the new favorites on the steel circuit or what? As someone has already mentioned, Laney has four ( I think ) C D's, two of which I have..A Tribute To Connie and her latest Matters Of The Heart with the rookie on the last cut. Russ just nails all those intro's of Weldon's on the Connie album and Laney completely cloned Connie's voice/ soul/ phrasing, etc ... Just in case you missed getting those C D's, opportunity knocks again..this Sat, Sep 11 at Sarcoxie, Mo down on the town square during Chief Sarcoxie Days. If you don't come, I expect a Doctors excuse in writing. |

Russ & Laney---
There are not enough adjectives or adverbs,
or whatever those descriptive are called, to
do them justice.
Let's start with Laney- she is not only a knock-out in the looks department, and has a great voice, she KNOWS how to use it. But
putting that all aside, she is a lovely
person,AND, she can cook.
Russ is a pretty laid back guy, a fantastic
picker (plays steel, bass, guitar, and a pretty damned wicked trumpet, too) and if you
ever get to hang out with him in Nshvl.,
bring your cast-iron stomach, 'cause he'll
introduce to green chili burritos, and let me tell you they are HOT!
The put me up (read "put up with me") for a few days, fed me extremely well, and treated me like royalty while I was there.
Just a note to tell you who may not know,
the kind of people they are. I am proud they allow me to call them friends.

Just finished listening to Laney's new CD and all I can say is WOW! Not only does she sing beautifully but her taste in songs to record is as if she was a steel player herself. Russ really shines backing her up as always and the Nameless Shuffle is frosting on the cake. I love it!!! |

I would like to add some input on this wonderful project that Laney and Russ put together.
It's REAL COUNTRY, done by one of my favorite Girl Singers.
I have 2 favorites, Connie Smith and Laney Hicks.
You owe it to yourself to pick up a copy as I did of this CD, My 2 favorite cuts are Mr. Record Man and Nameless Shuffle, which was great before as an instrumental by Buddy, but now with the Laney Hicks touch has some great lyrics, and singing now with it.
Russ does a great job on the steel and adds great color and tone to these timeless classics.
Take care, Red Kilby

Russ and Laney ,Such a great team,Great stage presence. Great people, and she is one of the best singers around. And ole Russ just sits there and smiles and blows you away on that Steel. It's really unfair,, all that talent in one place... |
