I am buying a speaker from a Steel King, and as I recall, it was described to be similar to the JBL D130F. Any comments on this? I have a 1995 Vibrasonic Custom Reverb, are these the same Speaker? I`m guessing the one in the Vibrasonic was made many years previous to the Steel King, Same speaker ? Both Emminence ? I have many amps to try this one in, Foxed NV400,Webb,the Vibrosonic,or a new project down the road. Anybody tried one with these amps or have any ideas?
Lots of questions, I know...but I might have some fun trying.
Thanks!! |

Same speaker. Same excellent sound! A little heavy, but a great sounding speaker IMHO. |

I have the same speaker in a RI twin..... I sounds fine and close enough for most folks, but it isn't a JBL or EV. It also weighs plenty.

That's putting it mildly!
The one that came out of my Fender Steel King weighs 24 pounds. I replaced it with one of Ken Fox's SICA speakers, which weigh just a tad under 7 pounds. |

Yes it should be an Emmi and will be better overall than the JBL, not necessarily tone wise but ability to "crank it up" wise. JBL's D130's are nice for smooth tone but they tend to die early in life from over powering, thus PV made the BW ( session 400 era) and then Emmi got in the game. The issue today is now we have too many choices, too many EMMI's speakers, bright to middy to strong lows..
The Steel King 15 should be a fine speaker... _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,
