From the response we've had the steel guitar jam here in San Antonio is going to be a good one. Roger Edgington is going to be there if his gig schedule allows and Carson Wells who makes great steel guitars has agreed to be our bass player. We want any steel players and/or fans to come out and support the steel guitar and players. Hopefully some of the area steel guitar teachers will show up too. Players of all levels are encouraged to come out and play.
Admission is free but donations will be appreciated to pay for the room at the VFW in Helotes. Hours will be 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. No food will be served but the canteen will be open to sell your favorite beverage.
May 29th, 2011 will be the day. Call me or e-mail me if you need directions...210-254-5299.

Hey! You didn't say anything about Carson playing bass. I don't know. Just kidding. Looking forward to seeing my good friend Carson Wells. Maybe he will play some steel too.

Hello David
I'm thinking along the lines of the jams in Katy. Billy and Jody have a session for the less accomplished like me, and then go to the more experienced players to play 2 songs and after the 2 songs each we can do a round robin . We're going to have to wing it some since this is the first jam
I have also been trying to get a backup band to play with Carson Wells. Billy Phelps and Jody Sanders seem to have a great deal of success so I was using their format as a start. Please call me with any suggestions you have...jr

Joe,
I think this format will be fine. I can bring a boom box and backup tracks if that will help. I can also bring some printed materials on theory to pass out if you'd like.

I know Carson is a pistol but a pretty good one..Don't tell him I said that. I talked to Carson a few minutes ago and he is looking forward to seeing you too Roger.
David, bring anything you'd like. We'll pass it out and may have a few new players before the day's over. The boombox will be great in case we don't have a back up band...just as long as I don't have to carry it on my shoulder with the speakers aimed at my ear....jr

Past Master!
... Looks like it's going to be a nice turnout for the first area PSG jam. I'm looking forward to attending as well as meeting some of the folks whose posts I've read on the Steel Guitar Forum. Thanks in advance for your efforts in putting this jam together.

Weldon, My Brother,
I'm happy with the interest in the jam. Looks like we'll have a good turnout and a good time. Come out and meet more of the steel guitar community and build a fire under Chip to get him out. See you there if not sooner Brother....jr

Al,
You'll be missed for sure. We're going to try to have these jams the 3rd Sunday of the month if we have enough players showing an interest. So far it looks good. I know you're busy with your pursuits but come out when you can....jr
