Has anyone ever replaced the formica on a D-10?

It's a major chore and borderline bad idea unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

I re-did an Excel which wasn't so bad but the Excel has a unique form of construction which helped.

However, on the old Carter site, there used to be an instructional video on how to do it.

Like Bill said I would take the guitar apart.If your wanting to take the mica off,the chemical you have to use will take the neck markers as well.Its a very tricky proccess.I have done many counter tops and you only get one shot at it.Plus it takes special tools to work it.

Well I guess it's not a good Idea. Just thought I'd check. I'm trying to purchase my next guitar and getting some good replies, but the best deals all have less then desireable colors, at least in my opinion. It's amazing how much "more $$ or less $$" some guitars will sell for just because of color. Thanks guys for the input....

Mike Cass re-mica'd my'78 p/p.

The result was better than the original job. His pricing is very reasonable, and he applies the laminate with heat and pressure.
