I have an old Fessy D10 3x8 and my LKL lowers #7, but I would like for it raise #4 & #8. Could someone give me some insight on the procedure to change this. I'm a million miles from nowhere and taking it to someone would be out of the question. I am very mechanically minded and can follow instructions to the letter. I am cleaning and trying to polish it back to life and so far it looks really good, and plays ever so smooth I was really surprised at the tone and sustain that it is capable of producing. I am going to try and post some pics later, maybe some of you guys will recognize what I have. Thanks in advance for any input.

Lowers 7 to WHAT?
Most E9 setups don't lower 7 at all.
In any case, you now have a pull rod that will need to be moved from the 7th string position to the 8th. Just remove the pull rod, loosen the setscrew on the bellcrank (Jerry calls it a string puller) and slide it over one string and re-tighten.
You will need another pull rod the same length as the one you have and another puller to use on the 4th string. Call Jerry Fessenden in Vermont. He'll send you a rod, nylon tuning nut, and puller and is usually quick to respond.
Once you get that stuff, put the 4th string pull rod through the top-most hole in the changer (nearest the body of the guitar) and attach it to the 3rd slot from the end of the puller -- the middle one. Run the 8th string pull rod through the top hole in the changer and attach to the 3rd or 4th slot from the end.
That's it. Jerry makes some wonderful guitars. I've been playing them for fifteen years or so. _________________ Larry Bell - email: larry@larrybell.org - gigs - Home Page

That looks like a pull/release changer. There are several experts here that can help you with this type changer. Richard Burton comes to mind. You might do a search for pull/release or Richard Burton. Hope this helps. _________________ Clyde Lane |

On closer inspection, you may be right Clyde. No pics of the endplate, so it's hard to tell.
My instructions are for the 3R/3L all pull changer that Jerry has used for decades, with the 5 position bellcrank. _________________ Larry Bell - email: larry@larrybell.org - gigs - Home Page
