Who was the steel player on idol tonight? Sounded great on You Were Always On My Mind. Excellent taste and great tone on the Sierra. Hat was cool too..wonder if that would help my playing. |

Yea, it was my friend Jay Leach. I think he had the hat on so his bald head didn't reflect too much light in that stage setting.

I am amazed at how the American Idol band is able to learn and perform all the arrangements they do at an incredible level of excellence. I am equally amazed at the contestants ability to learn the songs they learn as well. Most of the arrangements are complex. The American Idol band is a terrific band. The steel player is always great when he is used.
