Our Aug. 7 show is lining up quite well. Headlining will be Doug Jernigan. We will finally see Ben O'Dell get a good workout. lol
Make your plans now and contact me for specific details. Thanks guys..
And one more item-I am talking with none other than Johnny Bonevillion (New Orleans) and hopefully he will be here also. Nothing specific on that yet. But, if you have never heard Johnny play you have missed a lot of the best steel guitar playing. When Johnny was on the live broadcasts on WWL out of New Orleans (sponsored by Sal Hapatica) in the late forties and fifties, Jerry Byrd was one of his enamored listeners. And if you still want to know more about Johnny's ability, just ask the Big E..

Hey Bill.....it's gonna be a good one with Mr. Doug Jernigan.....one of my favorite pickers......I'm also gonna be able to be there this time and hopefully with the group that I play with "Philadelpheia" doing some fine Christian Country original music. I'm working on a new CD project for myself......doing all Hank Williams songs and adding a little twist to some of them......hope to have it out by our October Jam.....but will do a couple of the tunes that will be on it.......take care and will see you at the show....will bring my keyboard and use your Evans Amp. We are so proud to be having our long time friend and fine steel player, Doug Jernigan in for our August show.

A few !!!!!! years ago, lets see, Doug was thirteen, The band I was working with, played a grand opening for a local radio station in Mobile, Alabama. After we opened the show and the next band started setting up, I saw this little whipper snapper setting up a steel guitar, that little guy was none other than Doug Jernigan. And what a whipper snapper steel guitarist he was at that time, and the world knows what a fine artist he is now.

We are also so thankful that our good friend Bill Stafford is finally getting straghtened out after the second time in less than a month getting very close to joining the dearly departed. As I said in my post about Bill, prayer does work and I'm thankful we put together all the prayer power here on the forum on Bill's behalf. Bill told me Saturday his tank, (blood level) should be close to full very soon. Lets continue to pray for Bill.

Now Bill, yep, Doug gonna wear my old fingers down to the third knuckle. What a nice surprise it would be if,, for instance,, someone, say for instance, (Ben Brogdon) just happened to come strolling through the door like he did at last year's Mobile show. Oh well, I can dream can't I?

Ya'll make your plans to be with us in Gulfport to see the fantastic Doug Jernigan perform. I may even get on the horn and beg Tony Lane for an appearance. Tony will be appearing on the show with Doug, Friday night, Aug 6th, in Schumuckla, Fla.

Oh Yeah,,,,,,Come hungry, and enjoy the best steak you ever stuck a fork in around 6:00 pm. Thanks,,,,,,,,,,Ben O'Dell

Doug is a "super" player.
I was at Russ Hick's fish fry a couple
of weeks ago and Doug borrowed someones
guitar and smoked the strings off of it.
Doug was backing up Laney. She wanted to sing and wasn't sure if Doug could do it in her key.
I saw her whispering to Doug then she
told everyone "finally a steel guitar
that doesn't care what key the song is in"
It was so funny, Russ just hung his head.

Thanks for he kind words, and yes it did sound good.......

No, but his wife Said one he caught was smaller than the bait he was using.

We spent the night on Sat. with Doug & Jetta and went to church with them on Sunday Morning He played at church that's where his Steel was.

Yes he put things on my Emmons that I did not know was there.

The Guitar forgot most of them before I got home.
Doug is a wonderful man & very true to his Christian beliefs

I hope I can make it over to Gulfport Aug. 7th. Bill Stafford is another one of my new best friends.

See you down the road,
Larry

Hey Bill !!!!!
What you doin man. All them pickers coming in,,,,,,Don't you think Doug gonna do enough damage to these ole fingers of mine? Since Ms Mickey can't attend due to work, tell Ms Betty to be sure and bring her first aid kit, along with some splints.

Larry did ole Doug do the towel and hide the licks trick on you? He's good at that. I'll bet when you change the strings on your guitar, you'll find the hot spots on the frets. You can write them licks down then.

I've been trying to get doug down here to the fishing hole. I told him I knew where we could catch bream that measured 2 axe handles tween the eyes. I caught one the other day and the picture of that booger weighed 3 pounds.

Looking forward to the show August 7th, and seeing all the great players there. Sure hope you can make it Larry.

Bill is gonna be in top notch shape come show time. Maybe we can get you (Larry), Bill, and Doug on the stage at the same time for a burn out.

Hey,,,,,, Yall come early and stay late. As I said before, make sure you leave room in the ole tummy for the best steak on the coast, and all the trimmins.

See ya'll on the seventh. Ben O'Dell

You have a great one in Doug Jernigan.
He in my opinion, is the best in the business, for knowing when to be an instrumentalist and when to be a supporting musician. He can shift from one to the other flawlessly. He is one of the greatest professionals of our time.

I am so glad Bill is feeling back to his ole self, maybe we won't hurt him too much?
Glad to hear "Miss Mickey" is doing much better.
Is the guy's from Dothan comming over there?
Hope so I miss seeing you and all them.
Hope I can make it.
We are gonna have a Goodan in Saluda this time on Aug 14&15

Ole Mr Smooth ought to be chomping at the bit to get to play some after being sick for a while, You are no doubt going to hear a great performance out of him.

This one is really looking good folks. Just received info from the Mobile area that some of Ben's friends will be here to ensure Ben remains on the straight and narrow. And with Mike from up north, Ben will be surrounded with great talent on the stage. Looking forward to this one very much. Want to thank everyone for all their assistance. Makes everything worthwhile.
