I attended the MASGA Jam on Saturday and had a great time. Thanks to Skip Mertz for setting it up. The Venue was great with a lot of room to set up and a big stage for the band at night. It was good seeing and getting to pick with some of the good folks again. One big surprise was when I was playing at night and all of a sudden Ray Walker was up there doing the vocal chore. Ray, I have to congratulate you, I knew you played good steel and build the best Pack Seat in the world (I paid $325 for one of them) but I didn't know you sang so well, keep it up dude you'll blow ol' Rob Parker right out of the saddle. I can't remember his last name but there was a player there who's first name was Arnett who was one helluva player with a very full and pretty sound. You could tell he was a very experienced and professional player. Chuck Campbell did his usual great job and also had his brother (Sam I think) who handled some of the vocal chores and did a great job. Glenn Lanning is the newly elected President and keeps playing better each time I hear him. Kenny Dail came back to play at the night time thing and he just keeps on playing it the way it's supposed to be played. I'm proud to be known as his "illegitimate son" for sure, ol' dad was great. Skip Mertz was hot but he always is every time I've heard him. There was a guy at night on Saturday who I've never met or heard before named Marvin who played a red Emmons and I think he'd have to be the "Wild Man" of the jam. He tore that thing up. I can't remember everyone's name who played but we had players of all levels and I enjoyed listening to everyone of 'em. These jams aren't meant to be an event where someone goes to tear up another player or a contest of anykind. It's a place where anyone can play and they all do. It's a pleasure to go to these jams. Thanks to Skip again for starting this organization. Have a good 'un....JH

Thanks Jerry....it was really great seeing you there and my oh my I saw starts in your eyes the whole weekend and it weren't the players or my singing that was doing that You guys make a great looking couple and I am truly happy for you both. I have always liked your playing style and only wish I could get those licks in me somehow. May we should get together and jam soon. I like singing some as well as playing but singing with you guys is a lot of fun. Joey...you're doing good my friend and I enjoyed our time together. The man's name is Arnette Mills and he is a fantastic player. He playes with as much feeling and intensity as I have ever seen from any player. Thanks Kenny for you encouragement, you know I love you my friend. Chuck you son of a gun...Not only is his playing right on top of the game but now he sports around in that brand new RV and WHAT A RIDE!!!. Shirley is a happy lady. She can take a break and relax now anytime she wants to. I have already spoken to Deb and she said to tell you that she will give in and let me have one too...problem is I think she's coming to you for the money Ken Latchum, thanks for all you have done for the organization over the last several years and you unselfish giving of all of your time. You have repeatedly showed up at the jams and worked your butt off and I for one appreciate it very much. Thanks to you Skip for putting on such a good jam and for getting a great band together for all of us. Come on Folks were they good or what????And they had fun with us too. It was my great pleasure to play with that kind of band. Glen Lanning....congrats to you my friend. As the new President of the MASGA I know we have much to look forward to in the year to come and we are in good hands with you at the helm. By the way...Ken Latchum will serve as VP for the next year and as such I am hoping that now he can bring out his steel and be one of the boys in the lineups this next year.
