I don't know if he's still playing a BMI, but Cowboy Eddie Long is the steel player with Jamey Johnson. I'd love to hear him playing as well!

I saw Jamey Johnson a couple of months ago here in Springfield IL. Cowboy Eddie was playing steel for him and boy was Eddie UP in the mix.
You could have called it the "Jamey & Cowboy" show. Eddie gets as much time, room, freedom that he wants (unless he just takes it).
They did a medley of some classic country (for the good times, who's gonna fill their shoes, hello darlin ) and Cowboy played almost every verse, every chorus and lead.

He also took a long solo when Jamey introduced the band. It was a steelers show... very good.

Security is to tight at concerts now.We couldn,t get back stage front stage, stage left or right.Show was sold out. There is not as much professional courtesy as there use to be,in my opinion.Flame away I,m in a bad mood anyway.

Before playin' steel for Jamey, Eddie had played steel in Hank Jr's Bama Band for a few years, and for five years, he worked for Kenny Chesney, and played on his early records, in the late part of 2005 into 2006, Jamey was just startin' out as an artist and Mike Fried, who played steel for Gary Allan was on steel for Jamey, but after Mike left the band, Eddie came on board as Jamey's steel guitarist and he's on steel for Jamey to this day.

You can tell that cat Mr.long has allot of soul. On the album they just let him freestyle after the song.(yeah , its on record), and let it be understood Mr. Eddie Long is country to the bone. You can hear Huey and Mooney like riffs and changes, and at times he sounds like the great Dickey Overby. Never seen him live and my fear is the label will mix him out of future sounds, and Jamie Johnson will be told "he just doesn't fit" Jamie Johnson was one of the last "true" what I call traditional "Country and Western" artists in mainstream and I already sense they are pushing him out. A shame. So all I can say is support satellite radio, and what i still pay reverence to as "Traditional Country and Western Music".
God Bless you all, and God Bless American Again (Bobby Bare).

Starting next month Jamey Johnson will be part of the big "Willie Nelson's Country Throwdown Tour". So watch for it to come to a town near you.

just saw the show and was more impressed than i had thought i would be. a great mix of originals and classic country music.the packed house went wild after every song...and when he did close he did it with "i saw the light"and the mostly young, as in, 21 to 41 audience sang along. ole hank was smilin'.
the on-staff sound guy usually is at a total loss when there's a steel guitar in the mix at this venue.
tonite he had it right and the mix was pleasant.
cowboy eddie long was the most reserved i have ever seen him. after the show he said for me to tell everyone on the forum hello and that he is still and will be forever on the path of sobriety and lovin' every minute of it and every play date along the way.

country.............
