I just get a used Wallace True Tone with Sho-Bud professional specs. There's 3 cables on that pickup. One is the groud (black) and the two others are respectively: Red with 18k value and White with 17,5k. I was saying to myself that this system is a Coil tape you can switch if you want. But the sound difference between the two possibilities is important compare to the two values. Has anybody some informations about that ?

Matthieu, You probably will not hear any difference at only 500K. Commonly, 18K would be tapped about 11k.

You may need to have it rewound if you want tonal differences. Or just buy a new one from Truetone wound to your liking, and sell yours to someone who does not need the coiltapp feature. They could just tuck away the unused wire, running one wire and the ground.

I am a big fan of Truetones. Love 'em!!

i think i'll keep it and do something with the switch of my Mullen pre RP to have the coil-tap effectiv. But how to do that without adding another switch ?? an idea ?

It would be a poor choice to try to use that pickup for coiltap purposes. You won't hear any difference with only 500K difference.

Coiltap switches can be mounted under the guitar so you can avoid drilling your endplate.
