I went to the Jimmie Rodgers museum in Meridian Mississippi. I was surprised to see the steel guitar played by one of Jimmie's steel players Billy Burkes. It was an Electra double neck-one neck six and the other seven strings. There were several pictures of Jimmie with a steel guitar in his band and one with the steel guitar in the middle of the band with Rodgers standing behind it.

I checked the internet and couldn't find much about Burke's career or playing. The guy working at the museum said after Rodgers death Burkes had moved to Arizona and had a good local musical career there.

It was a nice museum, the only negative aspect of it was I was told that the museum pays the Rodgers family $800 a month to rent Jimmie's artifacts (furniture, guitar etc.). I was also told an interesting story about a dispute between Jimmie's grandson and the Martin guitar company.
