For Sale: Excel D-8 Steel Guitar Jerry Byrd Signature model

Post by Mark Addeo »

Beautiful Excel Console Steel Guitar D-8 Jerry Byrd Signature model. Two necks each with 8 strings. Note this is a non-pedal steel guitar. Looks to be from the 1980's from the limited info on the Excel website.

This particular model can be seen on the following link: http://www.fuzzypsg.com/4e.html . Elsewhere on the website it says the following but dont hold me to the specifics on the date:

1985 Began production of Jerry Byrd Model Hawaiian Steel Guitars.
1986 Began production of J.B.Frypan lap steel

Ok, so now about this great steel guitar. It is a 22" scale, has two necks, two single coil pickups, one volume and one tone with neck selector for lower, upper or both.

It is built like a tank with removable telescopic legs that pack snugly under body when stored in the case. Includes original hard case. Case needs a little TLC and is missing two metal corners but is also well built and will continue to work perfectly to protect this great steel guitar.

This steel guitar looks, sounds and plays beautiful. No issues with anything, electronics, tuners etc.

NOTE: The upper neck is currently tuned LEFT HANDED high C6. The lower neck is tuned RIGHT HANDED E7. I am lefty and merely put a set of strings on one neck backwards and learned to play on this guitar. Because the decks are staggered it isnt ideal for lefty. I have since acquired a GFI 10 string and Allen Melbert 8 string and this nice dual 8 needs a good righty home.

Nothing is altered and so string her up righty for your preference of tunings and you have a great dual neck Steel guitar.

Price is $850 plus $40 shipping to lower 48 states. Local pickup in Central NJ ok.

thanks, Contact Mark at maddeo@gmail.com if you are interested

This is for all reading this post. I made two offers to purchase this guitar the morning of 3/26 when listed and have had no response. This is his first post and so I don't know what the deal is. I pray that nothing has happened to him and that he is well. From what I can tell we can't expect to hear from him for whatever reason. Rich
