Does anyone know if the single version of the song, with Jay Dee Maness on steel, is available and on which CD? Thanks.

Is this the version your talkin about? If so, you can use "Audacity" to capture the sound and save as an mp3 or wav file. Click Here

For posting that. Truly moving after you know what was behind the tragedy. Thanks Ray

Thank you Andy and Jamie for telling where I can find the song. And an instrumental by JD sounds very promising.
You can't really compare the loss of a human being to the loss of a pet, but my cat Franzel died about a week ago and the song seemed so fitting.

There's a great version of "Tears In Heaven" at the end of JayDee's "Getting Inside" instructional DVD. Just another reason to buy it.

When I went on Rhapsody to look for the Clapton recording (they had it on the Clapton Chronicles album), I came across an album called "Legendary: The Steel Guitar Tribute to Eric Clapton". It has a nice version of "Tears In Heaven" on it. Might that be the Jaydee version? Rhapsody only credits "Various Artists".
