Buying strings from the Steel Guitar Forum Store

Post by Arne Odegard »

I ordered 2 sets of Jagwire strings here at the Steel Guitar Forum Store 5 days ago and they've already arrived at my house here in Norway. :D
I'll be changing my strings more often now that I've found this great source for Steel Guitar strings.

Yep! It took 5 days to reach me in the far corner of Australia, last lot I bought!!!

Local "music store", (and I use the term loosely), charges 4X the amount, offers 1 brand only, and said they'd get 'em in within 3 weeks of me asking .... but it took 2 phone calls and an extra 2 weeks!!

Way to go b0b!!! Wouldn't buy 'em anywhere else now!

Signed ... A Happy Forum Shopper!

I, too, am amazed at how quickly b0b gets his string orders out. I think he has some sort of 6th sense and just "knows" when an order is about to come in.

That's nothing! I needed some Dobro strings from b0b and they arrived before I'd ordered them!

b0b, I know you've been making changes to the "mercantile". A month or so ago I took a look at it and you had an option for custom sets of Jagwires, with a grid to fill in for the individual gauges (though this had a note "not currently available", or words to that effect). Now I don't see that--am I just not finding it, or did it prove impractical?

The problem with the custom sets was that I have to have every gauge in stock to offer custom sets. Also, it didn't track inventory correctly in the software. So basically it was a failed experiment. :\

If you need a string substitution or two, you can specify it in the special instructions box at checkout. Or you can buy your whole set as singles, but that's usually more expensive.

We're still out of stock on a lot of the Jagwire sets. I'm at the mercy of the vendor on those - Jagwire knows what I need but they can't make them fast enough to meet the demand.

You can tell at a glance if something is out of stock because there's no "Add to Cart" link. The software is tracking inventory very well. You can actually see how many of each item we have in stock on its Product Details page. I used to have to update the web pages by hand when we ran out of something. Now the software does it automatically.
