I recently obtained a 74' Classic, MSA, S-10 from Arizona. She cleaned up nicely.
Completely disassembled, cleaned, and polished. New fret board. Pickup rewind by Jerry Wallace. (Jerry also rewound a MSA S-12 for me too, thanks) Added D# LKL. Very rewarding experience. Before/After pics.
Thanks to all who provided parts and general info.

Val, that looks great! I hope my '74 S-12 looks as good when it's finished. Where did you get your replacement rods? Did you have the metal professionally polished? Again, super job!!!

Nice guitar. I hope it's lighter than mine was. I took it to one of Jeffran's seminars in Tn and damn near pulled my shoulder out Confused . I dropped it off at Scotty's on the way home and he sold it for me.

Beautiful guitar. I have a S-10 MSA Classic. Has original MSA pickup. I have played it for about 11 years and had no problems. They are a very enduring design. I added a pad on the back of mine and a bar holder. I added a swich to by pass the tone and volume control so it runs direct if I want more volume and have more control over the tone. Good Luck and Happy Steelin

I have a MSA Classic too. I bypassed the volume/tone controls, but I like the switch idea, to have it both ways, might give it a try.

Also wondering about the pickup. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to change it out? And your recommendation for what kind of pickup would make a nice upgrade?

Tommy,

I have a '77 D10 that I bought new, I still like it and play it. They are very good guitars. The only problem I have found is that my original pick ups were not wax potted and tended to have a lot of pedal noise coming through. After potting the pick ups myself the pedal noise went away. I don't know if the failure to pot the pick ups was intentional or just an oversight from MSA. The pick ups are strong and sound good.

I have since changed to E66's which sound good as well. Changing pick ups was not hard to do.
