Help a brother out - I am brand new to this RKR change.

Does anyone have any chords or grips or ideas?

Why wouldn't I just mash my A pedal on string 10 to get the same note?

Who came up with this change?

I think it was buddy emmons, a common move of his is from a V-1 chord;
A pedal down, PICK 9/7/5, release A pedal block strings, pick 9/8/6 and pressing pedals A+B and whilst strings are ringing, lowering 9th string resolving to 1

WITHOUT THE 9TH LOWER do a bar slant back a fret with the 'heel' of the bar and raise the E's, pedals down A/B strings 9/8/6

Another is Maj7th to minor 6th;
Pick 9/6/5 pedals A+B down for maj 7th, lower 9th with knee lever for minor 6th

I took my 9th lower off and added a barrel adjuster for 2nd string very accurate but i have to do some slants with the 9th string combo's.There are still lots of players that don't have a 9th lower, but you got block and pick 10th string quickly.

Here is a nice sounding E7sus4 to E7 to A(add 9) for open strings 4,5,6,9. Pick once and use B pedal and that lever on string 9. Without that lever you can't do this on a 10 string. On a 12 string the same notes are easy at fret 5.

Ooops I forgot you can do it a whole step higher (F# to B) using strings
1,
2 (lowered a whole step),
5 (lowering then raising a half step) and
8 (lowering a half step).

So you don't need to lower sting 9 to play this passage as long as you can lower 2,5, and 8, which are all common knee lever changes.

Frank, I've tuned my 9th string to C# for a good while and raise it to D with the same lever that lowers my 2nd string. One thing you can remember when you have it at C# is that when your 4th and 8th strings are lowered to D# the C# note will serve the same purpose as the 7th string F# in an E9 tuning, ie. the II note of the B scale...... you can use it also when you're using your E to F knee lever and it'll be the root of the chord and the 10th string B will be the dominant 7th. Example, use your E to F lever at fret one and lower your 9th string to C# and you'll have a nice D7 all the way through the tuning (omit string 7) and have your 2nd string lowered to C# also!.........JH in Va.

Try this V7 to I change (if you haven't already):

At the nut, play an E7 chord with no pedals down, e.g. strings 4, 6, 8 and 9

Now while letting the strings all continue to ring mash pedals A+B with your RKR lever and you have a perfectly fine A Major resolution to close out your brilliant solo passage.

I think one good reason to have the change is so you can have the C# note with the lever against the 5th string B note.

I like to use it for a nice open sounding min7 voicing. Strings 9 lowered-5-4. Like the old song "Spooky" Emin7-A13......Fret 3 - 9th lowered and strings 4-5 to Fret 5 - 9th string NOT lowered strings 6 and 5 with the A pedal

And as other guys mentioned.... the Emmonsy sounding V7-I on strings 9&6 then squeeze the lever and B pedal. wiggle the lever a couple more times for effect.

This change is new to me too... I have it on the BMI I recently bought. So this thread is great.

I think it sounds pretty cool is to start in the pedals down position with the knee lever already engaged, grabbing strings 5,6 and 9 (resolved sound)... then sliding the bar up 5 frets while releasing the pedals and knee lever to get a 7th chord.
