Mike Daly has a terrible disadvantage. Any Christmas CD by any steel guitarist is going to be compared to the ones made by Buddy Emmons and Paul Franklin. And that's just not fair.
This is a very nice CD. Tasteful arrangements, well played. It's not the dazzling display of virtuosity of Paul's CD or the lush orchestral arrangements of Buddy's, but it makes for about an hour's worth of very pleasant listening. Mike is a fine player, and he does a good job.
This one belongs in your collections. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

I really like this album too, and Mike's playing is always top notch whatever the context. Above, is a link to a post that I put up a while back here on the SG Forum that kinda fleshes out a few more details about it.

I met Mike Daley @ Pick's during the CRS week. He was rehearsing with Bob Caskey and we talked briefly he gave a CD "Song For Mary Kelly" that is quite joy to listen to. Mike uses some interesting percussion in some tunes. His music has nice "arty" vibe to it. Thanks again Mike Daley. Don D

|

Thanks Mike. I am happy you are enjoying the CD. Come next December, Bob here at the forum will have them available again to help spread the steel guitar Christmas cheer...Mike Daly |
