I've been playing my Dual-Pro for 2 years now, and I'm finally playing live with it.
I bought replacement pickups from Lollar last year (the bobbins in the originals were badly warped)
They sound great, but overall output is not all that loud, compared to other guitars.
Currently, I'm using a Seymour Duncan pick-up booster and it sounds great! I set it about 11 or 12 O'Clock.
I'd prefer to not have to use the boost, and I can't help wondering if old, weak magnets have something to do with it. (also, the closer neck seems a little fuller & richer than the farther one)
I switch instruments alot during sets, and am trying to maintain equal volumes.
Does anyone make replacement magnets for these?
I'd hate to dis-assemble the pickups and send the magnets for charging and be without my beloved steel for any length of time, but I guess that would be an option, too.
Any ideas anyone? |

Rick,
I just had Jason Lollar recharge the magnets of my dual pro (D-6) trap pickups and they seem to be louder than before and with better sustain. The outside neck still seems a little lower output, although the DC resistance is pretty close to the same. Anyway, the difference was noticeable and worth the effort. _________________ "The Masher of Touch and Tone"

Well, UPS ground is essentially next-day service between Seattle and Vashon Island, and if it wasn't for a mixup on my return address, total turnaround would have been 3 days. Contact Jason through his website to let him know what's coming. The act of recharging the magnets is like a minute. The handling and paperwork is what takes the effort. _________________ "The Masher of Touch and Tone"
