I have a project body I'm finishing. Is there anything I can do to brighten up the binding? I was thinking the dremel with a cloth buff.
thanks, Ron |

It should work, but I'd be more inclined to working it by hand with a soft cotton cloth.
With a Dremel it would be very easy to go too fast and damage the binding with heat build up.
Is this new binding or something on an old body? _________________ Some misc pics of my hand crafted steels

It's on an old Silvertone. |

Have you sanded the binding? That can dull the appearance. Buffing won't do much good, if the binding has deep scratches. It should be scraped with a razor blade and/or sanded to a fine grit; the finer the grit, the brighter the binding will look. |

Meguiar's Professional Swirl Remover 2.0. Soft cotton cloth. Great for cleaning lacquer finishes of scum buildup too. |

I just did a '63 Shobud Permanent body with the Swirl Remover. Came out great! It's not aggressive enough to do any damage to any surface, at least if done by hand, and it removes the contaminants from the surface, leaving a wonderful shine. After that treatment, I use Meduiar's Show Car Glaze. So shiny, it's slippery!
I don't resort to rubbing or polishing compound unless it's abdo-lutely necessary, like on my '57 Strat. |
