Post by Jim Cohen »

We've just updated www.SteelGuitarJazz.com with some great new recordings (audio and video), including:

Danny Sneed's video playing "Fessy and Me" (in "More Great Videos")

Sez Adamson's video playing 'While We're Young' (in "More Great Videos")

Rick Schmidt playing three great jazz standards (Angel Eyes, Footprints, and El Gaucho)(the last two written by Wayne Shorter) (in the 'Listening Lounge')

Olli Haavisto's Frank Zappa tribute group playing "Twenty Small Cigars" by F. Zappa (in the 'Listening Lounge')

All great new stuff! Come on over and poke around the website. Enjoy!

Also just added the video "Waltz for Elma" by JAN JONSSON and his group, The Flat Five Society. (On the "More Great Videos" page) Thanks Jan!

Jim...thanks for including me on your great website! So many brilliant steelers taking our instrument in the jazz direction, and you are certainly one of the best of them! I am truly honored to be allowed in the club.

Cheers,

Rick

Jim,

Thanks for putting my clip on the site!
As much as I`d like to take credit for the tribute band, it`s not my band, I just guested on that one tune at a big Zappa`s 70th birthday bash in Helsinki.
It really is an incredible orchestra of 9 guys in their late twenties/early thirties.
Check this out, with guest vocalist Napoleon Murphy Brock:
