I'm putting my MeloBar back to 10 strings. I'd like some in-put on what the notes for E9th tuning should be and what string gauges work best. |

Hi James, not sure about 10 string tunings but here's a link to some 8 string E9 that might help. You'll have to scroll down to find the E9. Click Here |

I use the 8 string E9 tuning that players like Buddy Emmons and Speedy West used in the 1950s, except I don't have pedals. That tuning would be:
E
B
G#
F#
D
B
G#
E
If you wanted to add 2 more strings, the logical way to do it would be to add a high G# as a first and an E as the 6th string, unless of course you wanted to add re-entrant strings on top, like a pedal steel.
Personally, I would maybe just add a C# as string 2 and skip the high G# and E. Too much clutter.
I've been creating a few lessons using E9 tuning based on great steel guitar performances. I'm almost finished with my favorite of all, Buddy's Boogie. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |
