Super Depressing Original Hardcore Country Song

Greetings my fellow steel players!

Here's a song that I wrote, recorded, and mixed today.

There's 7 tracks: Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Overhead Drum Kit, Electric Bass, and Pedal Steel Guitar. I play all the instruments.

I arranged it similarly to a song that Dwight Yoakam and Buck Owens wrote.

I'm trying to get better at everything in the process. Vocals, playing, recording techniques, mixing, the whole 9 yards. If you guys have any suggestions or tips I'd love to hear them. Help an 18 year old kid out, haha!

The Pedal Steel is a Carter Starter with a Telecaster bridge pickup through a delay pedal directly into the board.

Any criticism is welcome!

Hi Clinton,
I've been in the recording business longer than I care to remember, and I reckon your effort is very good for someone starting out in this game.
It is obvious that you know precisely what you're striving for in your recording and playing abilities.
....quite a 'Bakersfield' kind of sound. Nice. Good sound on all the instruments....you may consider a soft piano comping in unison with the acoustic rhythm guitar/s.... it does wonders to pull everything together.
At your young age I feel you are doing real great, and that you should be your own judge of your progress.

Go for it....!! :D

hi Clinton, Great job on this. My first thought is you might consider lowering the key. It sounds like you're straining a little bit in the vocals. You're way ahead of where I was when I was your age. Larry
