It's a Session 400 Limited:
Very little power and sounds like a blown speaker when harshly plucking the low strings. Same results when switching to other speakers. I probed for broken leads and found nothing. Patching from the "preamp out" to another power amp and I get hum and no signal from the guitar. Any troubleshooting ideas?

probably not a cap. Probably a blown transistor or opamp. Either that or a bad connection to a control pot - open it up and inspect all of the solder joints.
If you know how to use an oscilloscope this will be very easy to find - inject a sine wave and trace it until you see the distortion.
If not, bring it to a tech.

| Run a cable from preamp out to power amp in. Peaveys have a reputation for the power amp in jack getting dirty and not getting a good connection. |

Thanks a bunch! It was the contacts (closed positions) on all of the input/output effects jacks. The worst was the pre (volume pedal)jacks.
Now, best way to clean these up? Very fine wet/dry sandpaper? Contact cleaner only?
Then some parts upgrades.
Any suggestions for rack mount reverb?

| The best way IMHO is to replace them with Switchcraft jacks. I did in my Nashville 400 and never had anymore problems with them. |
