I've read about him. Kind of a cult artist. The older stepbrother of Maria McKee and member of the band Love. He died some years ago. I never heard anything of him until today. I think he was great.

One of my favorite bands. There is a dvd out called Love Story with interviews with Brain and Arthur before they passed on. Lots of good info in it. Also a dvd of the 90's version of Love doing the Forever Changes album live in England with strings and horns that is great.

There is 2cd album called Love Story 1966-1972 with a little bio booklet included. All of Forever Changes is on there and most of the songs from the earlier albums and stuff after Forever Changes. Lately a lot of live stuff is being released but the quality is spotty.

The first LP Love titled Love from 1966 is basically a punked up take on folk-rock.. great stuff, very melodic and tension filled.

The later albums have a somewhat more varied approach, orchestration, mariachi, spanish guitars, jazz, strings, woodwind, etc.
The sampler mentioned by Larry is a good 'un, but for me if you want the heart of the group, both the 1967 albums "Da Capo" and "Forever Changes" are a must!

There's also a late 90s compilation of material by Bryan titled "ifyoubelievein" on the Sundazed label, and still available.

Their web-blurb to describe the set:

"ifyoubelievein is, in a sense, the Love record that never was: solo demos and home recordings of fourteen original MacLean songs, all written in the earliest and most vital years of Love and all but three virtually unheard in any form since MacLean wrote them over 30 years ago. It took a lot of time for the music on ifyoubelievein to end up where it always belonged — on record, as Bryan MacLean originally wrote and envisioned it. And it has been worth the wait. Listen and be forever changed.

Joachim, don't know how I missed your original post, I was looking for something else and saw Bryan Maclean and it flashed Love. Lots of good stuff by them as already mentioned, I also like an album from 1969 Four Sail.I kinda "rediscovered" them in the last couple years. I think they were ahead of there time and a very inovative band. 7&7 Is, one of my all time favorite songs.
