by Evelyn Whitney
L. T. Zinn 10th annual Michigan Steel Guitar Hall of Fame Benefit Show is scheduled for May 9th 2004.
To be held at the American Legion Post #179 2375 Wilson Ave. S.W. Grand Rapids, MI.
Show times are 10am to 7:30pm.
Confirmed players so far are:
Russ and Lanie Hicks
Sonny Curtis
Herby Wallace
Frank Rogers
Dewitt "Scotty" Scott
Don E. Curtis
Joe Wright
Danny Hullihen
Bob Wright
Billy Cole
Drew Howard
Skeeter Klott
Leonard T. Zinn
Show scheduling is still in progress. New infomation will be added as it becomes available.
Due to past weather related problems we have moved this show to a later date than usual.
The past two years have proven to us that winter weather is not out of our way in early April
Last year we were completely consumed with an ice storm. Looked lovely, every branch and blade of grass covered in ice.
Which kept many people at home and safely off the roads.
These storms have been a determent to the shows success.
So this year we have moved the show to May in the hopes that "Ol man winter" is out of here by then and that people will feel much safer on the roads traveling to our show.
We hope to bring to Michigan one great day of super steel guitar music, good food and fellowship. Check back to this posting for future updates. Evelyn Whitney and L. T.

Hi Evelyn and L.T.,
I have a Friday night gig in Toronto, but plan to come out on Sunday.
Your Grand Rapids Shows are always excellent. I was so disappointed that the ice storm kept us away last year.

Confirmation from one of our ever-present and most wanted steelers--Herby Wallace.
Couldn't do the show without him.
Staff Band:
Frank Rogers on lead guitar (unbeatable)
Ben Brogden on Bass ,also, from our viewpoint (unbeatable)
The illustrious-- L T Zinn on Rythm Guitar
and on drums (played for the Dottie West show) Dan Crampton
We will certainly put Don E. Curtis (Commander Coty and the Lost Planet Airmen)( he's so great and nice) to work, on the drums and the steel guitar.
May 9th in Grand Rapids, MI
See you all there. Drew, thanks for posting all those great pix from last year (you need to put a "
www." in the URL for it to work).
I really regret that I had to turn down the invitation to play again this year, due to a prior family obligation, but I'm sure it will be another fabulous show and I look forward very much to returning in 2005!

I will really miss this show and all the great wonderful folks there.
Al, it is one of my greatest pleasures to have met you and hope to see you again in the future. (I had a very distinct pleasure to have been in the studio when Roy Ayers recently recorded his fist instrumental album. Boy, watching and hearing him play all those beautufil chords, a-la Alvino Rey, was a big experience for me. Don't know how you guys do that. Watching Roy record the "Tenn. Waltz" was a special treat for all of us in that studio-knowing that this is the guy that was on the very first recording of one of the most recorded songs in history. When Roy was on our show here a few months ago, I found an original LP of Pee Wee King with all those songs that Roy rocorded with The Golden West Cowboys. Roy did not have a copy, but he does now. lol) They gave Roy a nice write up on the back too and his wife was very pleased with that.
I will miss you and all there.
Evelyn, LT and Roger: Special thanks to you guys for the invitation to you show. I will miss this very much.
