Hello Everyone,
I just started on steelguitarforum in hopes that some of you experts could help me out. I just inherited a Mullen Pedal Steel guitar, but play acoustic, so I'm considering selling it. I don't know a whole lot about it and was hoping I could get a little more info. It's a Mullen Steel with 2 necks and says George Ls on one of the necks. It has 8 foot Pedals and 5 knee pedals. I'm attaching Pictures of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like an older model. They are basically Pre Royal Presicion, Royal Presicion and now the G2. I'm guessing this is a Pre Royal. If you can find the serial # stamped on the underside of the guitar you can call Mike at Mullen and he could probably tell you when the guitar was manufactured. Some other folks on this forum with more experience than me could probably help you with setting a price if you choose to sell it............hope this helps.........clark

It looks to be custom built. I don't recall that the Mullen I had had those kind of knee levers. The five switches also indicate that it may have been custom built. Is there a serial number on the bottom somewhere?

It is an old one, but in good shape. I would need the serial # to be certain what year. but I would guess around 1985. This is one of those rare ones with the 4 pickups. Nice guitar. I would estimate value around $2,700.

I found a number engraved into the wood on the bottom. It is 2099. I tried "google"ing it but didn't have much luck. Is there a website I can find a contact number for Mike at Mullen? Thank you for all the help so far.

Interesting dual pickup arrangement. Curious about the tonal variations and if there's any hum reducing benefit?

The guitar was actually built for Junior Knight in Feb 1988.

Originally it was sold to Charley Norris and Junior Picked it up there.

The 4 pickups gave it a great variation in the tone from bright to mellow.

If Junior saw this, bet he could tell you all about it.

Wow I wonder if Jr left any of his licks on it?

Are you saying I could play as well a Junior Knight if I bought this guitar?

This is definitely a custom build...Like Mike says, built for Jr Knight. My friend Jim Lindsey has a lacquer one thats almost identical mechanically, built for Juniors good friend Gary Hogue SEE PICS HERE

Yes..this was built for me..as much as I remember,it was just like Garys guitar,great tone,stayed in tune..I used the 4 pickups alot of the time out of phase to get a dobro sound..

I would definitely consider selling it here and making a donation to the forum. I'm just not sure how to do that. I know that if I sell something on Ebay that I can use paypal in order to safeguard myself. I don't know how that works here. I also don't know what your fees are for selling here. Is there an area in the forum that explains all of this?

Go to "Forum Index", "For Sale: Instruments", then read b0b's post on what to do after your item sells.
I think 2.5% is about the standard donation for a higher priced item.
As far as securing yourself, I think if a forum member should buy your instrument, you can work out payment and shipment options for each party's safety.
While there are some non trustworthy parties lurking here, almost all "members" are an honest btotherhood. Good luck.
