has enyone came out with a unit like the old boss tone that plugs into the steel? & where could i buy one ? thanks

Chris Mahoney makes a replica version of the Boss Tone. I think you can get them from Bobbe Seymour, or try Mahoney's site:

Funny...
When I was a kid, the Boss Tones were the cheap fuzz tone. Noisy, buzzy, seemed to break a lot, etc...
The Mosrites & Fuzz Faces were the sh!t, back then, & Boss Tone's were the "beginner" type fuzzes. Bulky & awkward being plugged into the jack on a guitar...
'Course, I never considered one on a pedal steel. Wink
