I'm building a lap and almost ready to do the electronics. I'm using a humbucker with the red & white wires joined. I have 2 500 pots for volume and tone. I saw a Seymour schematic which used a cap. Do I need this or is there another plan?
thanks, Ron

Ron, you need a cap to turn the pot into a variable low pass filter. For humbucking pickups, a value of 02MFD (or .022MFD) is typically used because humbuckers tend to be darker sounding and you want to roll off less highs. Paper in oil caps and polyester film caps are recommended.
