Late in December, I had the end of my right index finger crushed by a towing chain, tearing out half the nail & fracturing the phalanx. About a third of the finger is still badly swollen & will be a long time healing. But I have to get playing again ASAP & will need a special finger pick to make that possible.

Somewhere on the Forum I saw some with double bands. Something like that would increase grip friction while also dispersing the surface pressure over a broader area, so as not to aggravate too much the tender flesh wound and the knitting bone.

I would take 2 picks, flatten the tongue on one and open it up till it will go up nearly to the joint on your finger. Then place another pick in the normal position on your finger. Put the tongue of the upper one on the outside of the lower pick. When you get a good feel mark locations. Use low tempature Silver solder and solder them solid together. Now you would have double wrap with width and at the position you can work with. May want to try to cushion your finger with something then fit the pick to it. I was ready to try this over a year ago, had blood poison in right index finger. It was normal in about a month

My fingers, lately, are screaming in pain when they make contact with my metal finger picks. I think I've got them adjusted pretty well. I've just been playing a lot (long hours) and the skin is getting raw. Anyone ever try bonding a thin leather pad to the inside of the metal finger picks to help with the chaffing?
