My NV 112 now has two broken off knobs. Are these hard to replace or should I take it to a pro? Also, I've heard that someone makes a "knob guard" for these, who would sell those? Thanks....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Seems like we went down this road a few times before! I have a N-1000 with 4 knobs I am about to replace. No easy job, even if you have the right equipment and necessary skills. Those pots are no cakewalk to get out of there without doing damage to the PC board and the traces.

Peavey has them in stock. I had a too order some more for stock over a week ago. Still waiting. With the holidays deliveries are a little slower. |

Those knobs sure do stick out and can get broken easily and are expensive to get a tech to replace them. Once you get it fixed, I hope you will consider ordering one of my "George Guards" knob protectors. Only $19.95, which includes the shipping. I can e-mail you a photo if you like. There are also photo's on one of my old posts under Amps and Accessories for sale. The guard will cost you half of what it will cost to replace just one knob. Plus, an added benefit, the knobs will stay set while you move the amp around. |

I recently purchased one of George's Knob Guards and they are fantastic. It took me about 4 minutes to install, it looks very professional. And, of course it works!! Rich. _________________ 1999 Carter D10 (9x8),Digitech RP150,Hilton Volume Pedal,Roland Cube 80XL,Nashville 112,BJS Bar |

How about a metal grille for the plastic one on top? Seems I recall seeing someone making that for a NV112...mine's about to fall off.

How many years have the NV-112s been out now? Do you reckon they haven't heard about this design flaw? Would it be unthinkable to modify the product in a manner which would eliminate the broken knob issue? I don't get companies that ignore defects in their products. To me the message is pretty clear: 'we don't give a s**t!' |

Got the pots in and the amp modded with new BB chips. First time I ever modded a N1000 in the shop with the new chips. Wow! It sounded good with my Tele. Never heard that before from one of these amps.
What a shame on this amp. It was sold with a flight case and supposed to only have few hours on it! Bull! Tolex torn in spots, someone even tried to glue a knob back on the master pot!!! Inside of chassis showed dust collecting on the power transistors. Reverb tank bag was very dirty. This amp had a hard life and was darn sure misrepresented by the seller. |
