The Whipps are deserving of way more recognition. Don't know if this one is still in print and available for purchase .....

Are any of the members still with us??

I read recently that Doug Dalton was living in or near Toledo Ohio, I think into the 1990s. As hot as he was on the mandolin, it's a shame he didn't record more. Did he do anything other than with The Whippoorwills?

Georgia Brown is one of the coolest singers ever!

Near as I can tell, there have been about 100 songs reissued in recent years. I just saw an original copy of their NRC LP offered for sale yesterday.

At least Doug is on some early Merle Travis Capitol sides, in addition to those on which Merle was accompanied by the Whipps.

Jethro Burns called Doug Dalton one of his favorite pickers in the intro to his 1970s Mel Bay mando tutorial.

Roy Lanham, what a great guitarist. Got to pick with him a couple of times. Always had to reach down and pick up my jaw.

The heavy set guy whose face is partially hidden by the mic in the studio shot I believe is Bill Ring who I used to work with at KWTO many years ago. He was a great guy to work with and quite a fisherman. Used to have a fishing show in Springfield, Missouri. Bill worked back and forth from one coast to another. He worked with just about every major star, and was often featured on the old Ozark Jubilee show.

Here's a cool rockabilly track with Lanham on lead guitar ( and a weirdest electric keyboard intro ):
