I was watching a YouTube vid of a steel player who used a "lexicon". He also mentioned Peavey "Profex."
What is their purpose? Does the steel plug into the processor which in turn plugs into the amp? How much, in general, do they cost? Thanks, I'm clueless.

Lexicon has effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, flanger and a few other effects. The profex has the same effects and it also has a pre amp with eq. There's different ways of hooking them up to a amp. It can be in the front input, effects loops and pre amp/ power amp in . Not all amps have effect loops and the pre amp/power amp ins and outs. PV steel amps have these. I don't about other brands of amps. There's different brand of effects processors that basically have the same effects. Some are better than others. I hope this will help you.
