The missus attempts to sign in but, in rapid succession, attempts 1,2,3..etc result in; `there may be a problem with us or you`.
Sorry for being vague, but I don't know much about MSN. It's her thang.
Any help would make life easier.

MSN Messenger, I'm told. I like a quiet life and when I hear constant swearing from the lass sitting at the 'puter, life gets hard.

It could very well be that MSN's authentication servers might be down. It's been known to happen. Otherwise, there's the ubiquitous M$ fix... Reboot! FWIW, you don't need to reboot if you know which process it is under the task manager. You can kill it from there and then restart it.
Aren't MSN and Live messanger the same thing tho MSN's version is older? Perhaps there is an update (version) available. And since it's free... *shrug*
I am always about as useful as a poopy flavored popsicle...
Sorry... |

All online MSN and Hotmail services are now rolled into the category called Windows Live. You must set-up a Windows Live (WL) identity to continue to use their messenger, which is now called Windows Live Messenger.
If you already have an identity for former MSN services, just login via your browser and set that ID as your WL identity. If you use Hotmail, your Hotmail login can become your WL ID. _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

I've got WLM, but cannot access it.
It tells me the service is temporary unavailable with the error code, 8004888d. Please try later. I tried again this morning and got the same message. Any clues?
Thanks,
Arch. |

Arch, please clarify exactly what you did differently to log in? What do you mean by the "tin?" _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum

I did this:
Go to a DOS prompt and type in the following OR go to Start -> Run and then copy and paste each line below hitting after each one.
regsvr32 Msxml3.dll /s
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 Sccbase.dll /s
regsvr32 Softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 Wintrust.dll /s
regsvr32 Initpki.dll /s
regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 Mssip32.dll /s
regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll /s
and then logged as normal by clicking on the desktop icon. As for the tin comment. That comes from an advert for `Ronseal` products. It was just my way of saying that I had succeeded in my efforts by following the instructions. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm just amazed that you all take time to help out those less well endowed(pc wise ) with knowledge.
Three Cheers To You All!!!
