I would love to find an MSA Classic SS , although I realize they are tough to locate... I have only seen them in D 10 or SD 10 models.. Was the Classic SS ever made in an S 10 configuration??...bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

Yes, I was at one of Jeff Newman's classes around 1981 and he had a red S10 Classic SS. It had a very small shelf on the rear, but it was definitely a single..not an SD. I'm quite sure there were others. |

I think Peewee Charles had an S-10 that he used with Lightfoot. Those were great guitars - I had a D-10 and wish I hadn't sold it. I put 705's in it. I've had some good guitars over the years, and still do, but that one could hold its own with all of them. |

Hey Bob,
there was one kicking around the alt country scene in Brooklyn last year.... I'll see if I can locate it. I did some setup work on it.... red, decent shape. |

Hey Bob, FYI the Steel Guitarist magazine #3 has a pic of Jeff's SS on the cover. [Steel's foremost instructor.]

My first Pro-model steel was a D10 Classic SS. Extremely well built guitar and the smoothest action i have ever experienced on a steel guitar. Should have kept it. _________________ 1983 Emmons D10 SKH, Carter SD10, Nashville 112, Session 500, ProfexII, Lapsteels, GT-Beard reso, guitars of all kinds...

Bob, they definitely made an S-10 SS model which is what I'm playing in my avatar from 1984. It was my first pro quality guitar after starting on an MSA sidekick. It was set up as a 3+2 with the 2 levers on the right knee. I eventually traded it to Reece on a deal for a D-10 Classic. I didn't know at the time how rare they are. Here'a a price list from '78 showing the Classic SS S-10 (3+2) for $1,195. The Camino is what they called their SD-10.
