Larry Bell in Ft Myers Beach

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Larry in his 'new' band last night. A nice venue (Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille) on a balmy Florida evening in the semi-open air.
Larry had his Emmons P/P and his Fox Vintage amp and had a great tone - he played pretty well, too!
I had to leave quite early, but I thoroughly enjoyed their first set (7.00 pm - 8.00 pm). Excellent 'covers' of some good choices from the modern repertoire, and they finished the set with a rousing 'Hotel California'. Larry had warned me that they would later defect to the world of 'southern rock' (which is no doubt great fun for him, but would tax my sixty-eight year old ears!) so I left for home still wanting to hear more.
A good band - nice rhythm-section, a good guitar-player/singer, good lady-singer, and Larry B. giving it his all. I believe their dates can be found on LB's web-site, and I commend them to anyone wanting to hear some good live music with lotsa steel!
(Anyone sitting on the fence with regard to Ken Fox' great new line of steel amps should check out the band; I love MY Fox Vintage, but I'm not playing anywhere for the next several weeks. Larry's getting a great sound out of his!)
