Youtube itself is safe enough in my experience.
I looked here:
http://alot.com/
and it seems to be something to avoid.
I would not install that toolbar.
You say "The site wants you......". What site? Not Youtube?
Paste the link to that site in your response so someone else can take a gander.
Do you have antivirus and antimalware applications running and up to date? |

Alot.com is ranked #489 in the world according to the three-month Alexa traffic rankings. They offer a variety of toolbars, all based on searching for different things. They make money by selling advertising on the results pages. Their toolbars can be removed via Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
People who use this type of browser add-on are exchanging some of their privacy in exchange for possibly useful search results. Google, Yahoo and Bing can give similar results for free, without the use of their toolbars. Still, millions of people choose to install search toolbars from Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask, eBay and myriads of other companies. All of them track your browsing habits, and serve targeted ads. This is not a crime.
There are evil toolbars being distributed also. One should perform due diligence and research any prospective add-on before adding it on. Use all three search engines, in case on is serving poisoned results (P-SEO). _________________ "Wiz" Feinberg, Moderator SGF Computers Forum
