Thought I would throw this video of Rusty Young playing some sweet steel at the Ramshead Tavern, Anpolis, MD on 10/30/2010. Kind Woman
Took this with my wife's small camera so a little shaky at first! He was playing everything that uses a slide. Rusty's Great and Great Band!!!!!!!
Great to watch him up close like that; thanks for posting. I'm only sorry that he handed off the second half of his solo to the pianist. This was THE classic Rusty Young steel solo that started the whole country-rock genre moving and he just gave half of it away before he even got to the good part. It's kind of like having John Hughey play only a few bars of his Lost in the Feeling solo and then hand it off to the fiddler player.
By the way, there was no logo on his steel. Is he still playing a Carter?
Yeah,
Thanks for commenting!!!!!!!
There was no logo but it looked just like the Carter I seen him playing last time! I'm pretty sure it was a Carter! I know what you’re saying about not playing the full solo but as I was a little leery going to see Poco for the first time knowing Paul Cotton was not there / let me tell you that the guy on keyboards added a whole new dimension. Lots of B-3. He was very talented fit right in and added great harmonies! They are still amazing to go and see if you get a chance!
Thanx!!!!!
I agree with Jim Cohen ... I, too, was sorry to see that he handed off the second half of his solo.
It's always a pleasure to hear Rusty play steel. He's always been one of my four "top heroes" that influenced me in my playing.
