These look beautiful and very moderne. I was quite surprised when I saw it! It reminds me of the aesthetic of the Rickenbacker pedal steel in b0b's collection. futuristic. I can imagine a swirly flame maple Moyo guitar.

it has a different tone thats for sure, something inbetween dobro, pedal steel and electric slide guitar, very thin,...interesting instrument and I think the price is actually not bad for such a unique instrument...

The sound didn't appeal to me, but that could be the music and the player just as much as the guitar.
I think it is great that some manufacturers dare to stay clear of the usual look. I mean, remove the badges from an Emmons, a Fessenden, a Rains, a Performance, a Carter, a Derby, an MSA, a Williams, etc, etc... and then try to tell them apart from ten feet away...
Sometimes a deviation from the style norm is just weird, like with Sierras, but this is a very beautiful instrument. I would love to hear it played in a more traditional country setting. |

i think it's cool...nice to see something different. the sound is good and useable...probably quite versatile depending on what you play through, etc.
the price isn't that outrageous compared to mullen, franklin, anapeg, msa.... |

Looks great!!
It may do some "walkin'" however.
I would like to hear it being played
with a soft touch as well as what we hear
on the demos.
Hats off!!
Nice!!

The changer is on the left, leaving the bridge solid to increase the sustain.
Very innovative.

Glenn played the Jazz room at ISGC last year, he not only makes a unique guitar, he has a unique style. Great player. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

So innovative it is not... as a concept. The very FIST Pedal Steel Guitars ALL had that layout, and so did the Fender PS210 decades later.
But the Moyo DOES have the LCT (Left Change AND Tune).
You hear no buzzes no noises on these guitars. Clean bridge, no mechanical clutter on the sound side. That's only how it SHOULD be.
I think it's builder should post more sound clips and videos, and although I like his playing, I believe it could prove helpful if he had a few not so "different" players "kick the tires" on it... publicly!

Thank you all for all the interesting comments. I'm going to have to light a fire under my marketing department and get some more video on my website. I guess I do play it pretty hard--I do like that percussive attack, probably from playing African music where every instrument functions more or less as a drum. But I also play plenty of old school country, albeit in my own way. The guitar does sustain well. |

I love that swampy, Dobro-like tone on the demo, but I'm wondering if the Moyo can produce the familiar Nashville E9, Texas C6 or the E9/B6 Universal sounds most of us steel players crave. The one in the demo is tuned to D9, (which would give any steel a different tonality). I'd still love to try one out. These guitars have the freshest design to hit the market in a long time. The light weight and compactness looks very appealing. For my purposes, as far as investing in one, maybe as a second steel, but not as a replacement for that Emmons sound that got me interested in pedal steel to begin with.
Jazz, blues, and rock players would be most likely to love these guitars. A viable alternative to a Pedabro? Quite possibly. |

Nice looking design, kinda Danish Dansk!
Tuned at the changer end, keyless style.
How much does it weigh?
That may determine how much it moves around when played.
It sure sustains well!

The Moyo single-12 4+5 that I play weighs around 32 lbs. It doesn't move around when I hit the knee levers. I've tried to strike a balance, building an instrument that is stable when played, but is not too heavy when it's time to load out. And when I travel it's small and light enough to carry thru the airport and onto the plane. _________________ moyo volume pedals:
