This has happened on both my Twin Reverb and Deluxe Reverb reissue amps, so I suspect it is not all that rare. The signal from the foot switch is delivered to the chassis by a right angle 1/4" stereo plug, one side carrying the reverb and the other the vibrato. The back shell of the plug can come in contact with the solder joints and short out either the reverb or the vibrato. I had chased the reverb problem by opening the tank, and by replacing the driver and recovery tubes before I noticed fiddling with the plug would make the reverb come back on. Aha, spray the contacts. Nope..only after removing the plug cover did I get a permanent fix. I took a small file and removed some of the solder blob and put a small piece of electrical tape inside the plug cover to insulate it.

Some of the Fender electronics have taken a nose dive. I have a Fender FM100H Head and the footswitch for it had to be taken apart and parts on the circuit board resoldered. One component was loose and not making contact and another had a bad solder joint.

There was also a bad contact with one of the reverb cable RCA plugs inside the unit.

This is a made in China unit.

If this is the "dish" style plug, you can get a more "vintage correct" plastic cover for it which should eliminate this problem.
